    Alex,

    Thanks for coming by. The
    board's lucky to have another
    great player like yourself
    visit. It's just wonderful.

I wonder what are you working
on these days. Are you with
    a certain group regularly
or are you just picking up
    work, as it goes?

Have you seen the guys from
    Conexion Latina recently?

    How's the Jazz scene in
    Munich, these days?

You know how I feel about
you and how thankful I am
    for all that you've done.

Yes, he is a powerhouse, Steve.
I'm so happy that he's here with
us. He's talked and played with
A LOT of greats and has a lot
    of great insight.

    Thanks again, Pete.

I try to answer to your questions:
I don't see those guys from Conexion Latina very often, the original guys you have on "Un poco Loco" many left Germany (some live in New York and Puerto Rico). You have to think that was in the 80's (1986) and here is a lot of "movement", to call it someway, all the time (I was also out of Germany from 1991 to 1999). In the 80's it was a lot of latin music around, also fusion (just mentioned this because I know this style interests you a lot too). Now that's almost gone. I remember that band was playing constantly around but now I don't see the name any more, which does not mean they are not playing. Latin players also don't have a venue that always plays that music or a meeting place.

The leader, Rudy Fuesers (trombone), lives now in Canarias, Spain (but he is German) and comes to Munich all time but, as far as I know, not to play (again, I might be wrong).
I often play with one of his best friends, Hermann Breuer, he is one of the trombon masters of the world and also great piano player (he is in that big-band with Cobham, Bellson, Brecker, ect-Rudy too). He always tells me they get together to try recipes, they both like to cook a lot.

O.K., going back to Conexion, on top of that I never beloged to the latin scene really, that went from a small but active scene in the 80's to virtually nonexistent today.
I was always a jazz player that sometimes would do a latin gig.

Some of the horn players I meet 'though, but in Jazz situations, like Claus Reichstaller (trumpet), Franz Weyerer (trumpet), or Roman Schwaller (tenor).

I used to play a lot in the 80's with Ricky Jameson (per) now in Puerto Rico and Freddie Santiago (as far as I know now in New York). Also sometimes with Joe Gallardo (trombone and piano), and once in New York with Hector Martignon (piano), where he still lives. I'm just mentioning them since you have their names in the record ("Un poco loco").

Then, the Munich Jazz scene itself, the one I belong to, is very big and full of amazing musicians, but, as in most places of the world today, TOO BIG for the ammount of venues and public available for this type of music.

    To Steve:
    Steve, start here:

    http://site238.webhost4life.com/alex...VideoAJazz.wmv

    It's very light.

It's about 10 years old but anyway would give you an idea about the foundation of my style. I keep changing all the time but hardly carry my camera or other stuff to the gigs anymore, hahaha.

Sorry, I didn't understand the thing about L. Nimoy's nemesis. My English it's a little limited but, as you see, I do OK in movie trivias. My favorite, anyway was "The Menagerie" (serie).

I've seen your playing and I always enjoyed it a lot (seen a trio and a brief demo of your teaching video).

    Take care,

    Alex Sanguinetti

Something that might interest Colaiuta's fans and Pete in relation with Conexion Latina.

Freddie Santiago is a gifted persussionist. He is awesome in Latin Percussion but also studied clasical and plays vibes and everything. Vinnie did a show with Chick, Miroslav and the Frankfurt Big Band (playing "Matrix" and stuff like that), in the late 80's and Freddie Santiago played marimba, tubular bells, etc with him (Vinnie), I was there, it was awesome.

    All the best,

    Dear Pedro,
Thanks man, ohhhhhhh, that mp3 is REALLY OLD (almost 20 years!!), anyway. The video it's a completely different story...

Here is a link where you can dowload different versions for real player free, suit yourself (s?rvete). It already works with Version G2

Other than trying this I would not know how to help you but I understand you'll find a suitable plugin or the "something" (hahaha) you're looking for.

All the best, and again: great playing!

    Alex is blistering!
    No one knows about
    him and some of those
    that do, STILL DON'T
    KNOW ABOUT HIM!

    Believe it or not!

    I'm not talking about
    speed, although he is
    FAST. I'm talking about
    attack. He is powerful
and he will tell you that
he is not a 'heavy' play-
er but the result is that
he has a huge impact on
    whoever sees or hears
    him. I can't say enough
    about him.

    He can do whatever he
wants to do. I'm not kid-
    ding. He eats drummers
for lunch. I mean that in
    the best sense. He is
    just always growing.

    Hahahaha, OK Pete.

I realized I forgot to answer you something, you asked me too: what I'm doing today. Actually nothing different to what I'd been doing on the last 26 years or more, hahaha. Only the people or the city changes...

Basically I'm freelancing and teaching. I'm playing with a lot of different people.

I moved back to Europe in 1999 and since then I've been trying to play as much interesting music as I can. As I told you before, the scene is really great in Germany and I'm enjoying a lot my stay in Munich, which is a very beautiful city too.
The music I play is mostly straight ahead jazz.

    Take care!

The Videos are in REAL format, which I <strike> HATE HATE HATE </strike> don't prefer (and won't install) so I can't see them.
